Pugliese Cockrel Jug Late 1800s

Found in Puglia, Pugliese Cockrel Jug Late 1800sPuglia

Very beautiful example of a large Pugliese Jug (Brocca) made in the late 1800s. Pugliese brocca, even over 100 years old are not so difficult to come by but this is especially beautiful example in particularly good condition for its age . The deep navy blue and dusty pink and green colours of the hand-painted cockrel are particularly lovely and the central motif together with the two 'EYES' at the spout of the jug make it very special. Needless to say that since this was made in the 1800s it was hand-made and is hand-painted and glazed. Most Brocca from this period have marked defects but this piece is in good condition. I will be very happy to keep this piece if noone buys it!
