Venezia - Enrico Ortalani 1940

Found in Amelia, Venezia - Enrico Ortalani 1940Amelia

Enrico Ortalani (1883-1972) was an Italian painter who trained at The Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. Many of his paintings were of the Umbrian countryside and of historic towns and villages in Italy. This wonderful subtle hued painting captures the tranquility of the Venetian canals as they once were. It is estimated to have been painted in the 1940s, it is signed by the artist on the front and also bears a label on the back with the painting's title, 'Venezia' and the artist's signature. Ortalani's paintings have been purchased by the royal family of Italy, by the Ministry of Education, by the Municipality of Rome and appear in public galleries.  These paintings were found in a private home in Amelia, Umbria. This painting is in its original frame but would benefit from reframing.
