Found in Florence, 1930s Signed Richard Ginori Blue Vase with ShipFlorence

This beautiful navy matt vase is decorated with a hand-painted ship in gold and white and finished with a gold rim at the top. It is signed Richard Ginori Pittoria di Doccia on the base.

Richard Ginori is to this day one of the most renowned ceramics brands in the world. Porcellana Doccia was created in 1737 by Carlo Ginori and was renamed Richard Ginori when it merged with the Milanese ceramic company Richard in 1896. The ceramics house was based in Doccia just outside Florence. It rose to fame when Gio Ponti was made Art Director in 1923. He was followed by the equally renowned Giovanni Gariboldi in 1930 when these vases were made.

This vase is in excellent condition and was found in the home of a private collector.
