‘La Bottiglia di Profumo'. This magnificent 1960s perfume bottle uses 'The Quadruple Sommerso Technique' (literally translated from the Italian as 'submerged'). A teardrop formation of deep purple glass is suspended inside a layer of turquoise, then a layer of green and encased in clear glass. The beautifully formed heavy stopper is also quadruple layered in white, green, blue and deep blue.  This exceptional collectors piece weighs 5.1Kg. "Formia" refers to the Mian glassworks/furnace in Murano of which the word Formia is the union of the words Fornaci (For) and Mian (Mia). It is still one of the main furnaces that produce artistic glass in Venice.
