Hand-blown Murano Glass bowl made using the sommerso technique - molten purple glass set within an outer blue layer. Sommerso literally translates from Italian as submerged as refers to a molten glass layer inside another glass layer. This piece was hand-blown in Murano, Venice in the 1970s. It was found here in Italy and is typical of this period. The colours are particularly vibrant. A wonderful example of a small decorative Murano bowl in very good condition.
