1950s Signed Mastroianni Abstract, Pen on Paper

Umberto Mastroianni (1910 to 1998) is considered one of the most important Italian artists of the twentieth century. He is internationally renowned for his enormous metal sculptures, many of which are in public places in Italian cities and are also on display at the Fondazione Umberto Mastroianni in Frosinone. He also painted abstracts in watercolour, oil and pen. This striking abstract is pen on paper in pink, green and black. The artist's signature is on the bottom of the picture written feintly in pink. The glass and black mount are new as the piece was found with broken glass but the frame is original. We would nevertheless still recommend reframing this wonderful piece.
