Two 1970s Turquoise Pigne by Zaccagnini

Found in Florence, Two 1970s Turquoise Pigne by ZaccagniniFlorence

Two beautiful Large Ceramic Pigne made by Ugo Zaccagnini in the 1960s-70s. These Pigne (Pine Cones) have an intentional distressed finish where the glaze drips over the pine cones. They were designed and made by the renowned ceramicist Ugo Zaccagnini who once had an eponymous shop on Via Tornabuoni, the luxury shopping street of Florence. When his store closed down in the 1980s, the dealer whom I bought these from, bought many of the contents for his own home.  Pigne are often used in Italy to decorate the top of columns but equally make a wonderful display in a large salon or conservatory. They represent immortality and fertility, the silhouette is ubiquitous in Sicily though this pair was made in Florence. I am thrilled to have these turquoise Pigne, both are in excellent condition.
