Grey 1960s Millefiori Venetian Vase

€1.100
Found in Venice, Grey 1960s Millefiori Venetian VaseVenice

This wonderful 1960s Millefiori Vase is attributed to Ermanno Toso, the grandson of the founder of Fratelli Toso, the renowned Murano glassworks. The Toso glassworks became famous worldwide for their expertise using the 'millefiori' (thousand flowers) technique. This technique creates hand-blown glass canes each with exceptional floral patterns inside. The canes are then cut to reveal their floral  pattern. Hundreds of these pieces are then fused together to create the 'millefiori' effect. This vase appears a warm grey at a distance, when close up, it reveals the many glass flowers that create it.
