A pair of Italian hand-blown Empoli Glass wine bottles made in a cranberry coloured (dark purple) glass. These exceptional bottles were hand-blown in Empoli in the 1950s. In the last century Empoli in Tuscany was one of the most famous glass-blowing regions of Italy alongside Murano. I found these bottles alongside a few remaining pieces of Empoli Glass in a disused factory. Cranberry coloured glass which is a dark berry purple with crimson accents is a much rarer find than the more everyday green glass that Empoli is known for. In some dark lights it looks almost black but on sunny days with good light it shines a wonderful purple. These pieces make for elegant and stylish European tableware. They can be used as display pieces on a mantle or cabinet or can be used as barware or on stylish dining tables.
