This exceptionally rare and beautiful Butterfly Vase was designed by Guido Andlovitz for the ceramics house, Società Ceramica Italiana, Lavenia where he was the Art Director in the 1930s. This shape and style of Andlovitz vase is documented in his design publications and can be seen in key museums and collections around the world. The delightful array of butterflies were hand-painted on the vase in 1956 - signed and dated on the base M.Re. Guido Andlovitz who died in 1971 was one of Italy's leading ceramic artists. The original Lavenia stamp is seen on the base as photographed. The piece is very precious and in very good condition.
