1960s Hand-blown Murano Glass Birds

€2.300
Found in Murano, 1960s Hand-blown Murano Glass BirdsMurano

Pair of 1960s exquisite hand-blown birds attributed to the great glass designer, Cenedese. Giovanni Cenedese was a renowned glass blower in Murano in the 1950s and early 60s. He is the father of the contemporary Venetian glass blower Simone Cenedese whom he trained in the 1970s.  Each bird has a deep red sommerso core (submerged glass technique) and is encased in deep emerald green glass surround. The male bird has a longer beak, a more upright tale and a thicker deep red core. The female bird has a short beak, relaxed tale and a slimmer deep red core. The pair were found in a private home where they have been cared for for over 60 years and are in very good condition. They both have the original felt on the base to protect them. Two exceptional display and collector's pieces.
