Ercole Barovier 1889–1974 was the world renowned artistic director, designer and owner of Barovier & Toso the Venetian Furnace famed for its Murano glassware.
Ercole became known for his thick-walled vessels decorated with un-melted pigments, textured and ball-like surfaces, raw metallic inclusions and expressive hot-work applications. Amongst his most amazing designs was the “Lenti” vase series produced in 1940. These extraordinary collectors items are displayed in museums across the world, were shown at the Venice biennale and are sought after by the auction houses Philips, Christies and Sothebys. This is a wonderful example of a clear glass piece with a pale hint of light green and iridescent undertones. It is incredibly heavy weighing over 9 kilos. A rare collector's item.
