1970s Padova Chandelier in Murano Glass
An extraordinary Murano glass chandelier originally made for a restaurant in Padua (Padova) in the 1970s. It is made up of over 400 individual Murano glass rods each individually screwed in place with a brass bolt. It weighs circa 100 kilos. The frame is made of brass and the base is made of frosted glass. It is as beautiful off as it is on, where it gives a shimmering warm light. This striking piece was one of only a few made for a restaurant in Padua in Northern Italy. It makes for an extraordinarily sophisticated statement in any room. In good working order, it comes with its original brass chain and ceiling rose. (Note. As our ceilings are very high we have used our own very long brass chain in these photographs.)
